The Gentle Birth
THE LATEST NEWS: I am now a partner of Birth Matters NW sharing a love for this work with Birth and Postpartum Doula Mariah Falin, and Postpartum Doula Krystal Ray-Jones. Feel free to contact me through here, or at www.birthmattersnw.com.
My name is Gina. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist with a specialty in prenatal and labor massage, training in Spinning Babies, and a mother of beautiful girls, Zoe and Sonya. Since my own experience with birth, I have come to understand how important it is for a parent to have physical and emotional support throughout the birth process. It was this understanding that has led to my desire to become a birth doula.
A birth doula provides comfort for the birthing parent: physical, emotional, and informational. A doula is not always a replacement for other family, but a reinforcement for them, especially when they need to rest. A doula never leaves the parent's side.
As a massage therapist, I have also learned the value of massage on expecting and laboring parents. Massage is proven to lower stress throughout pregnancy, assist in reducing swelling in the extremities, and even quicken the birthing process. Parents who receive massage and doula support during their labor have been found to need less intervention overall.
Combining these techniques with the emotional support and positive encouragement every pregnant and laboring parent needs, the birth experience can be everything you will ever hope for and more. I look forward to helping you bring your new little one into the world.
